SOCIAL MEDIA vs. REALITY
Alright friends. A friendly reminder that when it comes to social media, everything is NOT what it appears to be.
It’s SO easy to see beautiful images on social media of others who are CRUSHING their goals and to assume it’s EASY for them to achieve their goals...
Or that they achieved their goals overnight...
Or that they have the “perfect” body or “perfect” photos because of amazing editing tools and picture-perfect lighting.
Here’s what you DON’T see on Instagram:
- The weeks, months, and years of consistent actions that lead to goals
- The roadblocks stumble, and setbacks that happen that aren’t glamorous
- The fact that many people who make achieving goals seem EASY can either professional in their area of expertise (for example— elite bodybuilders who have amazing physiques) OR they are extremely unhappy and use social media to make them feel better about themselves.
Take ME for example. I have pictures of me running during a professional photoshoot. My hair and makeup are near perfect, and the photo has been edited to make me look amazing on my Instagram. However, the reality is me running in REAL LIFE. No makeup, sweaty, and tired AF.
At the end of the day, remember that social media shows us ONE SMALL GLIMPSE into someone’s journey. It doesn’t show 99% of what really happens.
