I have something that I’ve been hiding that I need to admit:

I am a weight loss coach and I DO NOT eat Halo Top Ice Cream or any other “healthier” dessert.

Here’s my reason why, and it’s plain and simple — when I want ice cream, I EAT ice cream.

I’m talking about the real, full-fat, super creamy, loaded with toppings, abso-freaking-lutely DELICIOUS ice cream. This happens occasionally, not on a regular basis for me. I enjoy it completely guilt-free and absolutely LOVE it.

Does Halo Top contain LESS calories and MORE protein than my full-fat ice cream? YEP!

But guess what??? At the end of the day, it’s STILL a processed dessert. It’s just one that contains a sugar substitute (that is 100-300 times SWEETER than regular sugar), a little more protein and less calories than REAL ice cream.

What bothers me most about Halo Top and other “healthier” desserts is that we, as consumers, are misinformed that BECAUSE these desserts contain a higher amount of protein, a sugar substitute, and less calories, that they are HEALTHY and therefore can be eaten MORE often.

Now, if you genuinely LOVE the taste and flavor of Halo Top compared to real ice cream, then go on with your bad self and ENJOY it!

But if you eat halo top on a regular basis while trying to lose weight, understand that you’re STILL eating a dessert, and our bodies digest Halo Top (and ALL processed foods) differently than they do real, nutritious foods.

Is Halo Top MORE NUTRITIOUS than real ice cream? Yep.
Is Halo Top as HEALTHY as unprocessed foods? Nope.

Bottom line— If you’re hoping to lose weight or create a healthy balanced life, then eat real, nutritious foods 80-90% of the time and PROCESSED foods (yes that includes Halo Top AND real ice cream) 10-20% of the time.
