6 Reasons to Hire a Weight Loss Coach

I have had so many clients over the years who have told me that hiring a coach was one of the best decisions they ever made, even though it wasn’t something they thought would be worth it at the time. I get it! After all, my clients are people who have tried everything, investing money, time, and energy into everything from subscriptions and supplements to expensive or grueling weight loss programs. Because of their previous negative experiences either not achieving or sustaining results, they wonder why hiring a weight loss coach will fare any better than anything else they tried.

Even more, it’s important to think about what to expect from a weight loss coach, and how working with one can make all the difference in creating lifelong habits that actually work for your unique self and your lifestyle, even with all of the twists and turns of life. Many of our previous clients wondered if weight loss coaching works, they are now tried and true believers, and their results speak for themselves - sometimes literally, as many go on to coach others!

Check out the most common reasons to hire a weight loss coach, and learn how the Strong with Sarah coaching method can help you continue to meet your goals:

1. You struggle to stay consistent.

It happens! You might stay really healthy, eating salads and healthy proteins some days, only to fall off the wagon and go back to overeating pizza, ice cream, and that good, reliable drive-through. Maybe you even overdo it because “I deserve this” or “I had a rough day.” Sound familiar? When you hire a weight loss coach, expect to find what people call an “accountability partner,” or someone who can teach you how to be more consistent with your nutrition and movement and who can help you decide when to treat yourself and when to stay on track. And, interestingly enough, talking it out with someone you trust means that over time you will have an even better chance of following through with your goals and keeping a healthy mindset. This is the prime reason why weight loss coaching is what works best for many people!

2. You struggle with the “all or nothing” or the “I’ll start next week” mentality.

Let’s start with a reality check: when is life not busy? With your weight loss coach, what you can expect includes new ways to prioritize yourself and your goals, and finding that balance between “all” and “nothing.” You can do it, but sometimes you need that third-party confidante and objective observer to help you along!

3. You are thinking a lot about thinking about your challenges.

If you find yourself constantly thinking about food, your body, or your sense of failure, a coach can help you improve your relationship with both and free up more mental space so that you have the energy to focus on more important things–like your loved ones, your career, your hobbies, and really anything that isn’t just a number on a scale. Weight loss coaching is about what works for you, not just what isn’t working.

4. You’re stuck.

Weight loss coaching works because your coach is your teammate. If you’ve been trying everything that worked for you in the past to lose weight, or if you seem to “plateau,” a weight loss coach will help you find new strategies that work for you so you can continue to make progress toward your goals.

5. You don’t know what works anymore…so, why weight loss coaching?

If you google “best ways to lose weight,” you’ll find about 5000 different strategies and articles. Some of these are completely contradictory, but yet all seem to claim that they are backed “by science!” Expect to find expertise from a weight loss coach, who can help you learn the science behind nutrition and weight loss. There are so many common myths out there, after all, but there are a lot of things that do work. Your weight loss coach can not only help you navigate the bad advice, but also help you with the good advice that is best for you, your personality, your lifestyle, and more.

6. Research doesn’t lie.

Numerous studies suggest that all of us are more likely to achieve our goals when there’s someone who can help hold us accountable. After all, just as you come to expect support from a weight loss coach, your coach will hold you to shared expectations that are truly but reasonably yours. Accountability doesn’t replace taking action and showing up for yourself, but it can be a heck of a lot easier to take action when you know someone will be checking in to see how you’re doing and who cares about your challenges and your goals.

Go Get It!

So, why should you hire a weight loss coach, and what can you expect from a weight loss coach? Just like any sport or activity that requires training to get better, your investment goes even further when you do it as a team.

How many times have you heard that asking for help is a sign of strength? Hopefully, you have been told something like this numerous times before, whether it’s in your career, your family life, at school, or anything else. So, why should weight loss be any different? We are social beings, after all! Give yourself a round of applause for all the things you are already doing to try to lose weight and become healthier - it’s truly amazing what you can already achieve on your own. Whether it’s taking care of a child or an older adult, getting help on a work project, or realizing that not every home chore can be fully DIY, everything requires a community, if not the help of an expert.

And that, my friends, is why weight loss coaching works, recognizing that we are not islands but a community, is the basis for what to expect from a trusted weight loss coach. So, if any of these reasons resonate with you, reach out and set up a time to talk!
