The Difference Between a Fixed or Growth Mindset

Can you guess one of the BIGGEST factors that determine whether or not you’re successful with weight loss (or any other goal for that matter)?

I'll give you a hint: it has nothing to do with food or exercise.

And it has EVERYTHING to do with how you think about yourself, your actions, and your goals.

Your mindset (a fancy term for your attitudes and your beliefs) is one of the biggest predictors of success.

If you have a fixed mindset, you believe that you’re inherently good or bad at certain tasks.

You’re more likely to give up on yourself and your goals when faced with a challenge or setback.

You’re also more likely to struggle with negative self-talk, and you might avoid challenges and want things to be easy all the time.

On the flip, if you’re developing a growth mindset, you believe your skills and habits can be developed and improved over time.

You’re more likely to persevere and continue to make progress towards your goals when faced with a challenge or setback.

You’re more likely to welcome and view struggles as learning opportunities, as opposed to “failures.”

If you’re someone who struggles with a fixed mindset, here are 3 ways you can develop a growth mindset:

🧠 Instead of always looking for the easiest route to your goals, embrace and accept that challenges are a part of reaching your goals, and they provide you a chance to learn and change.

🧠 Replace the words “failing” or “sucking” with “learning.” NO, you’re not failing when you fall off the bandwagon… You’re simply learning about your triggers and WHY you make the choices you do.

🧠 Stop trying to be perfect. Nobody is perfect, so instead, focus on making PROGRESS towards your goals.

Stop letting your mindset stop you from reaching your goals!
